RPD 23rd November 2009 Weekly Newsletter
In case you had forgotten, RPD stands for Read, Pray, Delete. You get one every week and hopefully that triggers you into praying. Why? Why should you pray for me? There are many things to pray for and most of us are busy people. I don’t have a good answer, but I am so thankful to every one of you who prays. I don’t even understand a lot about it, but please continue to pray – let God lead you as you pray – and know that you are an encouragement to me.
UTSIM
Please pray for me. I feel like I’ve lost some of the impetus needed for UTSIM. We have now finished three weeks of quarantine and today I found out that Monday and Tuesday are also definitely quarantine and they will decide later if it will go further. So it could drag out til the end of November. Not only are we missing most of our classes, but it is very hard to plan with these day by day decisions.
I’m enjoying some of the lessons. A few are hard work with students who don’t want to do homework or show much effort. Some hope that by purely ‘having’ English lessons, they will automatically learn to speak English (it didn’t work for me for Ukrainian either).
Pray that I will be confirmed that I am where God wants me to be, doing what He wants me to do – otherwise this is just a lot of hard work.
We had a great party at my place last night for Kate, a Peace Corp volunteer doing her training here in Rzhyshchiv. Pray for these guys that as they seek to learn more about life – they will find the Creator of all life and enjoy life through Him.
Thank God for my van. I sometimes speak badly of it because it breaks down and is uneconomical and hard to steer with no power steering. But it is a blessing for me and for others. This week with less UTSIM work I’ve been able to use the van to help others transporting various things.
Slava came down from Kyiv for the evening on Tuesday and we stayed up talking til really late. He is a DJ for a Christian Radio station in Kyiv. It was great to chew the fat with him and be encouraged.
Gav left on Wednesday to go back to Australia for about 4 months. Pray for him as he considers his next steps when he comes back here in March. Pray that he enjoys the time back home with his family. I was the lucky recipient of some of his vegemite.
