HE’S STILL WORKING ON ME
We used to sing a song in Sunday School, “He’s still working on me, to make me what I ought to be. It took him just a week to make the moon and stars, the sun and the moon and Jupiter and Mars, how loving and patient He must be, He’s still working on me.”
Jon sent me a really good clip which I would highly encourage you to watch. It’s called God's Chisel and reminds us that God is the one working in us to make us more like Him. Our job is merely surrender.
UTSIM
One week to go! Time has just flown by. Last week was very busy for me and this week will be even busier. Please pray for our end of year celebration. The program is coming together nicely with lots of student participation planned. I’ve heard that a few officials from around town are planning on coming and checking us out. Building positive relationships with parents and people in this town is something that we really want to do.
Continue to pray for our students. I have enjoyed getting to know them this year. They will now decide if they want to sign up again for another year. It’s been good to relate with these kids and teach more than just English – to really share life and the Giver of life. Pray for more opportunities for this to happen.
Bits and Pieces
Last Saturday a mixture of guys and girls from Rzh and from Ruth and Jon’s school put a team together to play in the annual Ambassador’s Cup at the Canadian Embassy. This was a fun version of street hockey which included some serious players and those out for fun. Bruce was the star of our team, the rest of us ran around a lot with too much idea. But it was a fun day. That evening a bunch of us went to a play put on by Kyiv Christian Academy. They did a superb job of “You Can’t Take It With You”. A thoroughly enjoyable evening and great to see the talents of some young people on display. Another educational institution with which I’d love to have some affiliation.
Then Sunday was the big day of Angus and Alya’s wedding. It was a little cold and windy, but it was a wonderful wedding seeing two young people commit themselves to each other. We had a great time driving around Kyiv for photos and a really lovely meal at a French restaurant. I had lamb! Very rare to get over here. Angus and Alya are now in Australia where they will settle.
This weekend Max is coming down to hang out and bringing a few other friends with him. I always enjoy hosting friends in Rzhyshchiv. It’s a lovely place to be.
This Sunday is what someone has dubbed “All Church”. All the churches have agreed to meet together once a month for Sunday mornings. Pray that this leads to a stronger presence of God’s Spirit and God’s presence in our town.
