THE CROSS

Every night I look out my window at the Southern Cross. It is strangely comforting. Not just as a constellation with which I am familiar, but as a reminder of The Cross. May the cross be the focus of my life. The source of my forgiveness. The power for the healing I crave. The reconciliation I need with God and therefore the means of reconciliation with other humans. May it be the basis of my thoughts and the shadow lurking in every conversation so I do not get caught up ranting and raving about that which is not truly important. May I remember to pray for friends as they come to mind - that the cross be the centre of their lives also.

Thank You for the cross Jesus. Show me what it means to take up my cross daily and follow You. Give me the strength and courage required to do this.

Hey thanks to Leah and Esther for comments
It's great to encourage and be encouraged. Thanks for the added information for viewing the cross. I guess I do look to the cross as a guide.
And Esther, I know stacks of Esthers. Which one are you? lol

I wondered about that!

I wondered about that! Bible, of course. ;).

sorry, I didnt finish the

sorry, I didnt finish the previous comment...
Now lets put it together...
"take up your cross...and follow me, or...
"take up your "staff", and follow ME!"..yep, that makes sense!

I heard someone say to me

I heard someone say to me that the word 'cross' in this particular passage of scripture, in the hebrew tounge...actually translates properly into the word: "staff", it is clear to me now, and makes a whole lot of sense when I read the scripture again with this in mind...the word staff instead of cross. When I think of the cross, and when it was placed on His shoulders, and carried, it is a picture to me of the burdens...heavy burdens..while the staff is something that helps us to walk..it isnt a burden, it keeps us upright..looking on, and keeping going forwards!
What a blessing it was for my friend to share that with me..and now I with ;you!!! You Jono are a real blessing...keep looking on..and forwards!!!
Blessings, Leah.(Tims and Judiths friend)
