RPD 27 June 2007 - He's Got His Plans

Half time, down 11-6, and not looking too flash, I wandered over to the young Cooper kids and asked, “What do you think of the game?”
“Good and bad”, replied 13 yr old Ariel. “Good because NZ is playing and bad because they are losing”.
“So what are you going to do about it?” I joked.
“Pray” she answered.
I countered, “What does God do if you are praying for NZ and a girl from South Africa is praying for them?”
“He's Got His Plans”

Ariel was unfazed. Her trusting faith knows she can talk to God about anything, yet she recognizes that God is ultimately in control of everything.
Why do I fret, why do I spend so much mental energy thinking about how I can work out life’s problems? Why don’t I recognize that He has His plans? I should turn my eyes upon Jesus. So should you.

Camp is Coming
As I write this, camp starts in 2 weeks, but for me it basically starts next week. There will be a small but willing team of helpers, cleaning the island, digging toilets and rubbish pits, building a kitchen, carting firewood, setting up tents, a volleyball court and our general camp area. In the middle of all this – I am heading west for a friend’s wedding.
Rough estimates show about 100 people coming to camp. Please pray that now – God will be working in the hearts of those who come. Pray that His Spirit will be unhindered and powerful at camp. Pray that people will be motivated to Love and Go – the theme of our camp.

Volleyball
We have been playing volleyball on the beach every Friday evening and sometimes other days. This always brings new people across our paths – who want to join in playing. Sometimes there is the opportunity to invite them to a gathering of some sort. Sometimes there is the opportunity for a conversation of a spiritual nature. Always there is the opportunity to love in action and let Christ shine in our words and deeds. Pray that these times will become even more effective. Last Friday we met a couple of families who said they’d like to come back often to play volleyball. Please pray for them.
