RPD 18 July 2007 God and Body Odour
A huge thank you to everyone who prayed for camp last week. It was an awesome time with over 120 people on an island together for 5 days. The biggest thanks is to God. The weather was great, we had just one night of rain plus a couple of small showers. The boat did more than 30 trips (that’s about 30 hours of boat driving) and the motor kept running with only minor repairs needed (changing spark plugs etc.).
Most of all God used the time together and His Word to speak to people. A number of people spoke to me about how God had challenged them in regards to what love for their neighbour really meant. Hopefully over the next couple weeks I will hear more testimonies.
And in the midst of all this, Daniel somehow managed to come up with an illustration that compared God being with us, to body odour. The rather unpleasant but memorable example means that whenever you get a rather strong whiff you will remember that God is with you. Please send all enquiries about this to dan@danandpris.com
It was great at camp to see a number of people volunteer to help or just use their initiative and help. A great example was on Monday, I was driving to the boat station, thinking aloud how everything was going to work. I worked out that I would need a volunteer to stay there all day until the last boat load. Igor, who was with me, said he was just praying to God to show him the best way he could show love. And I had just mentioned right now that I needed someone. It was an answer to his prayer and my desire and he was willing to put others before himself.
There are lots of photos of camp on the website.
I have a lot of catching up to do in many areas now.
There is also one incident which occurred which I need to try and sort out the solution for next year now. For the last 3 years we have taken water from a well nearby on the mainland. It is not far from the island, and therefore convenient. The old man who lives there has always been friendly until this year. We gave him a gift of money to try and make things ok, but the next time we went for water, he gave the money back, put a gun down on the table and told us to get lost and not come back again.
Water is one of the biggest things I need to organize – so I will be attempting to resolve this problem or find another source for next year.
Back to Rzh
Summer in Rzhyshchiv is always full of holiday makers enjoying our lovely beach. It was great to see Tanya and Lena at church on Sunday night. They come here every summer. Last year Tanya made very real steps toward faith in God. She is really keen to be with Christians again this summer. Please pray that the opportunities are taken. I know right now I feel tired from camp and have a lot at home to catch up with (emails and knee high weeds). I know next week Ruth and Jon arrive and I have some people from Kyiv coming to try and register my business (in one week). Please pray that God’s church in Rzhyshchiv will be challenged to Love and to Go. The challenge we had at camp.
