RPD 19 September 2007 - The Nature of RPDs

Each week I write something for you to read, to pray about and delete. I ask God for help and most weeks I enjoy writing, sometimes it feels like a bit of a chore. Maybe sometimes I just shouldn’t write. I want to apologise for last week’s RPD. Enough said.

A friend once asked me “Jono what is God doing in and around you”. That is what I want my RPDs to be about. About God and what He is doing. When you read I want you to be uplifted, and when you pray – I want you to be informed, and when you delete – well I don’t really care.

Thanking God

I have been reminded of the importance of thanking God for all things. Last week my laptop mysteriously died. I could not even get it to turn on. What a blessing to have Jon here in Ukraine with his knowledge of computers – he was able to resurrect it. Praise God for the use of technology.

Thank God for a healthy body. I played football again on Friday night – I’m beginning to feel my age. Then on Saturday we ran another football tournament. I refereed 19 games (20 mins each game). I was really tired afterwards. But I went home and managed to cook my little sister a birthday dinner. Then we let her win a game of Settlers!

I thank God for the ability to do so many things, and for friends who helped out with the tournament, and for my family.
I thank God for the van. It sometimes feels like a beast to drive – but it is a beast that has been a blessing. It’s a great opportunity for me to be able to bless others by helping them move things or getting from place to place.

Thank God for Sunday School and the opportunity to plant the word of God in children’s lives. We had 4 kids this week – three from nonbelieving families. They all learned that God is all powerful and therefore we can trust Him with everything.

Conference in Chernihiv

This weekend we are travelling to Chernihiv for a conference with other believers. The theme is “The Church”. This is what Jake (the main organizer) wrote about his desire for this weekend:
“My desire is that those at the conference would leave with “I love the church, God has incredible purposes for the church, it is awesome to be a part of this community of God’s redeemed, and I am going commit myself relationally to people in the church!” in their hearts and minds.”
I’m organizing the transport there and back and we have a lot of people coming. I’m also going to be running some teamwork games on Saturday arvo. Please pray that this will be a great time spiritually in the lives of all who attend.

I also had the chance to go to Jon’s class in Kyiv and take Jeff to talk to the kids. They seemed to enjoy talking to Him. Pray for Ruth and Jon at this school. There are a number of other Christians on staff – potential for doing a great work for God’s kingdom in the hearts of young children
