GLOBAL CONNECTIONS
UKRAINE
Today I was watching photos scroll through on my screen saver and felt a jab of homesickness for Rzhyshchiv. Marie and I hope to be able to visit Rzhyshchiv again towards the latter half of next year.
RUSSIA & UKRAINE IN OZ
It was good to catch up with my Russian and Ukrainian friends this last weekend. Since I gave up table tennis it has been hard to stay in touch.
ON THE HOME FRONT
SCHOOL DAYS
Tomorrow we are taking Year 2 for a walk across the Sydney Harbour Bridge and a visit to the Observatory. I have grown very fond of my class and will be very sad to hand them back to their teacher returning from maternity leave.
LONG WEEKEND
We are really looking forward to another weekend out of Sydney. This time Marie and I are heading south to Canberra. Chilly temps expected but also warm friendship and lots of chatting to catch up on a few years with friends.
BEECROFT RUGBY
Rugby will also take a backseat for a couple of months. I played the last couple of games and enjoyed the run around but not the scoreline. Marie was so good to come and watch me.
HOUSE HUNTING
We are in the process of finding a place to live. Although there is much to consider and we want to find the “right place” at the “right price”, I am surprisingly calm and know that God will keep us fed, clothed and sheltered.
WEDDING FEVER
33 days to go!! Yes we are getting married in a little over a month. There are so many people who have been helping us both here in Australia as well as in the states. We are really excited but also really looking forward to just being married. We have a hectic 2 months ahead of travel to the states, a wedding, a honeymoon, travel back to Australia, setting up house, looking for jobs, an Aussie reception. It’s going to be a whirlwind.
Writing about weddings, if you are coming to the Australian reception on August 10th and haven’t RSVP’d yet, could you please do so soon. We are also asking Sydneysiders to bring a dessert or drink to share for the occasion.
This will be the final Monthly Update from Jono as a single bloke. I will write a few RPDs, but otherwise, it is time to sign off and come back in a couple of months together. Look for the change!
MARIE – MY LOVE
Marie, you have entered my life and changed it in an amazing and wonderful way. Thank you for the all the sacrifices you have made in coming to join your life to mine. I love you.
WHAT YA READIN'?
I have almost finished reading 1984 by George Orwell.
THANKS
Angela Grace for having Marie stay for the past four months. We both appreciate your hospitality very much.
